3 Hacks to perfect your own Protein Balls- The Best Choc Peanut Butter Balls

These delicious little treats are a perfect afternoon pic me up. Taking the time to make your own protein bars/balls is way more cost effective than store bough varieties. Here are my top 3 hacks to ensure you nail your diy protein balls.

Hack One: I have found that individually weighing each ball when you are rolling the ball together is a great way to acknowledge portion control. After combining all the ingredients, I weighted each piece of batter in 30g batches. We have all been there, made a batch of a deliciously ‘healthy treat’ only to eat all of them at once. Another great is to pop your made protein balls in the freezer and only remove one at a time.

Hack Two: If you have every tried to make your own protein treats, you might find that consistency can be tricky to get right. I highly recommend using a pea protein rather than a whey.

Hack Three: Another great trick is to use a little water to combine all the ingredients together rather than adding more calorie dense binding agents. Add a little water a time to ensure your batter is not too sloppy.

Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp, Peanut Butter (200g approx)
  • 2 tbsp, Honey
  • 1 tsp, Vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup f Pea Protein Powder
  • 1/3 cup Cocoa
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1/4-1/2 cups of water

Method

Combine all ingredients except the water. Squish the ingredients together before adding a little water at a time until you can make little balls. Weight each ball to make 30g. Roll into a perfect ball and refrigerate.
