Emotions and Essential Oils By Cath Chugg

By Ange

When I became pregnant for the first time I couldn’t bear the smell of store bought cleaning products and I became so much more conscious of the chemicals I was using in our home.

This is why I first started using essential oils and it wasn’t until much later that I realized just how incredibly supportive they can be for our moods and emotions. I was actually pretty skeptical about how much difference they could make, but for me this is where they’ve had the biggest impact. Now I can’t imagine having to navigate Mum life without them!

How do I use oils for emotional support?

In the diffuser. Favourites are Wild Orange (uplifting), Balance Blend (grounding), Frankincense (keeps those anxious feelings at bay), Lavender (super calming and promotes sleep).

My ‘CALM’ blend – 10 drops Lavender, 10 drops Balance Blend & 5 drops Vetiver, top with fractionated coconut oil in a roller bottle. This is great to be able to carry during the day to roll on forearms and palms, then take a few deep breaths.

My little girl takes it to daycare with her every day. Everyone who comes along to my upcoming workshop will take home this roller blend. When we inhale tiny molecules of essential oil they travel up through our olfactory system to the limbic area of the brain, where our emotions and memories are stored. Yes, there is actually science that proves how essential oils can impact our emotions, it’s not just some hippy concept!

At my workshop we’ll be chatting more about this, and about using oils for immune support, sore muscles, low tox cleaning and how to make DIY baby wipes and blends to soothe a cranky, teething bub. Hope to see you there!
