INTRODUCING DOMINiQUE MILLER OSBORN: OUR NEWEST MEMBER OF OUR TEAM

By Ange

While renowned for our strength based approach to training, we are excited to see out mat-based Pilates classes continue to grow in popularity.

If you have ever done a Pilates class, you know that it offers a unique and challenging way to move your body by laying exercises together to get an incredible full body workout. We love that there is growing demand to run Pilates at three different times throughout the week; Tuesday morning at 7am, Thursday at 6pm and Friday mornings at 10:15pm. With the lovely Alicia heading into maternity leave and Ange with one on the way, we thought this was a great opportunity to find someone truly amazing to join our team!

Introducing Dominique Miller Osborn.

Dominique has been teaching Barre and Pilates across world-class Fitness and Pilates Studios for over 5 years. Her Post-Natal Exercise/Pilates were honed at Inform Physiotherapy and her classes are a body-mind workout that encourages women to listen to their bodies and re-strengthen to their optimal self, with a ‘pelvic floor first’ philosophy.

As a Women’s Wellness Professional Dominique understands the importance of movement for greater wellbeing and how boosting your mood can help you be the best you can in life.

She loves sweating it out in a hot pilates practice, hiking coastlines, learning to mountain bike with her 2 boys and drinking Friday night wine with her husband. Dominique also has qualifications in coaching/positive psychology and likes to keep her classes flowing with some good tunes and a smile.

Rapid Fire: Get to know Dominque in 6 Hard-Hitting Questions

When you’re not working, or training like a demon how do you like to spend your time?

I love the outdoors. My interest moved from hiking into trail running. This year I have a sexy mountain bike, so I’m enjoying learning new skills. So far the Red Hill trails threw me over the handle bars once… And I enjoyed an epic, fast 3km downhill ride in Bright – Woohoo!

What are you reading currently?

I’m currently reading ‘The Signature of All Things’ – by Liz Gilbert – It’s a wild botanical romp across the world in a time when ships sailed the seas for exploration, women were finally allowed to be educated, though the journey of love was perhaps not any easier. …And I always have a 2nd novel on the go that we read to our boys (7 and 11 yrs) before their bedtime.

What’s the best dress up costume you’ve ever had?

A real can-can skirt with its 8 layers of huge ruffles. It weighed a tonne… I wore it for a Mexican Day of the Dead party, so I had my face painted folk-art Frida Kahlo style.

What was your first job?

I worked as an assistant for a jewellery store untangling the spaghetti of 50 gold necklaces from a snaplock bag and getting them on display – ad infinitum. Was this actually my first job? Hmm, I’ve always had my finger in the pie, being paid to perform or teach dance. I took over my childhood dance school at 18 yrs.

 What’s your hidden talent?

I wish my hidden talent was piano, but that one really has to be filed as a somewhat impoverished covid-project! (My husband has all the talent there!) I speak Intermediate Spanish and love it whenever I get a chance to practice.

For what are you most grateful today?

Today I’m most grateful for joining this gorgeous group of female trainers at 23W – a group of women who support women (and Mamas like me) to be the best they can be – strong, healthy, and happy. I really look forward to getting to know the community of women and having fun training together on the mat!
